THE OLD SCOTCH CHURCH CEMETERY
Since the
first burial in 1876, the Old Scotch Church Cemetery has provided a resting
place for the remains of both church members and residents of the
community. Near towering trees, rolling farmland, and a historic country
church, rows of notable markers and dignified graves -- including those of an
Oregon founder and seven Civil War veterans -- grace a park-like
setting.
Still active,
with burials continuing and grave spaces available for sale, the cemetery is
operated by experienced volunteers who view it as more than merely a
picturesque, historic place. Abiding by the statutes of the State of
Oregon relating to cemetery operations, maintaining the necessary
permanent records, and keeping the grounds in good condition, the Old
Scotch Church sees its cemetery as a way of providing comfort to those who
mourn and a fitting memorial to inspire future generations.
