EXPLORING OUR REFORMED FAITH
"Secrets Behind the Slogans"
Things most people don’t know about the Reformed tradition,
even if they know the mottos and clichés

Dr. John L. Thompson will present the 2007 Exploring Our Reformed Faith seminar on Friday and Saturday, September 21 and 22 at Tualatin Plains Presbyterian Church (Old Scotch Church), 30685 NW Scotch Church Road, Hillsboro, Oregon.

Dr. Thompson will also deliver the sermon for the 10:00 worship service on Sunday, September 23 (drawing on WSC Q.1; and also on Psalm 8, John 17:20-24, Eph. 1:11-12, & Rev. 21:22-23).

The first seminar session is Friday evening from 7:00 - 9:00. Saturday sessions run from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM with continental breakfast and lunch provided to registrants. Because of a gift to the congregation for the funding of the seminars, the cost is only $35 which covers the meals, and printed materials. Dr. Thompson serves as professor of Historical Theology and is the Gaylen and Susan Byker Professor of Reformed Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary. John Thompson's areas of interest are church history through the Reformation with an emphasis on John Calvin, gender issues and historical theology. He spent several years on staff with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship in Washington and California. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), he enjoys working closely with students preparing for ordination. Dr. Thompson has written books and numerous articles centering on Calvin studies and gender issues.

His newest work has just been published by Eerdmans.
